We spent our last day in Sydney going to the Sydney Olympic Park, home of many of the events for the 2000 Olympics. We took 2 ferries, about 1 hour total, which was a great way to see the city. It was interesting looking at the amazing houses lining the water. We were excited when our ferry boat arrived and its name was Charlotte.

Enjoying the ride |
It was a long walk from the ferry station to the stadiums. There is a free shuttle bus that runs Tuesday to Friday, but unfortunately, we visited on a Monday. The kids were troopers on the walk and luckily when we reached the stadiums there was also a nice playground. They were happy to stay and play while I looked at the attractions.

Stadium which hosted the gymnastics competition. Unfortunately, the US team didn't do very well there. |

The Olympic Cauldron |

The base of the cauldron is lined with the names of all the medalists in Sydney, set in the appropriate metal. |

The pillars in front of the stadium each had a city and year at the base to denote all the other Summer Olympic locations. This one says Los Angeles 1932, 1984

We had great kebabs and burgers at a little cafe and then took the train and a bus home. I really wanted to just get a taxi or Uber after all the walking we had done that morning, but Tommy had been asking to take a train since we got to Sydney and this was going to be our last chance. It was a good choice, because we got to ride 2 double decker trains! Of course, we had to ride on the top one time and the bottom the second. Overall it was a great way to end our time in Sydney.
