Ten Thousand Buddhas

We visited the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Sha Tin.  The monastery is at the top of a hill.  There are 431 steps to the top.  The path is lined with 500 golden life-sized buddha statues.  Each statue is unique.  Tommy was excited to climb all the stairs to the top.  It was a hot day.  Charlotte got tired quickly and needed a little motivation.  I tried to distract her from the steps by asking her to find 2 statues that were the same.  She found a few that she thought were matches at first, but we could always find a difference.
Lots of steps
Golden statues

At the top, there were a lot of large statues as well as the main temple that had walls full of smaller golden statues.  There were easily 10,000 buddhas just in that temple.  There was also a restaurant at the top.  It was too early to eat a meal, but we had a couple of yummy spring rolls to snack on.

main temple, you can see the small buddha statues lining the walls
Going back down the steps was much easier than going up!
