Fabric Market

Jan is an excellent seamstress and had read about the Fabric Market online.  The Fabric Market is in a part of Hong Kong called Sham Shui Po where the streets are filled with stores and street vendors selling various items.  Each street has a different theme.  They had several streets filled with fabric stores.  Instead of having bolts of fabric on display, many of the fabric stores had cards with small fabric samples in different patterns you can order.  This method allows each store to offer thousands of different fabrics.  Supposedly, you can get fabric for a fraction of the price as the US.

Jan commented on the many knits that are not available in the US.  After we checked out the fabric stores, we went to the next street which was filled with stores with buttons, zippers, and ribbons.  I bought some ribbon for Charlotte that matched her school uniform perfectly.  Jan bought a few specialty items including a multicolored zipper for around $2 that she said would have cost around $20 in the US.

Ribbons!

Next time, Jan is going to have some projects in mind and we will do some more serious shopping.  We had a great time browsing.
